Project Overview

An isolated community in Honduras lacked safe crossing over a river that flooded seasonally — cutting off access to schools, markets, and the nearest health clinic. EWB @ Ohio State designed a pedestrian suspension footbridge to provide year-round safe passage.

Construction

The footbridge was constructed by a travel team working alongside community members who contributed labor and local materials. The design was reviewed three times by licensed structural engineers before any materials were procured.
